Our Focus: Fair Debt Collection

We believe that the overwhelming majority of people who find themselves unable to timely pay their debts are sincerely trying to find a way to survive. They don't become second-class citizens because they are in default. They, like all individuals, are entitled be treated with respect, honesty and decency by the people whose job it is to try to collect the debt.

Unfortunately, the debt collection industry acted so deplorably that Congress concluded it was necessary to impose a code of conduct - the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The statute was intended to both protect consumers and allow ethical collectors to not be competitively disadvantaged by the successes of unscrupulous ones. By allowing the courts to award consumers both their attorney's fees and up to an extra $1,000, the law encourages and empowers everyday consumers to enforce the law.

Sometimes, consumers are sued by a creditor or a debt buyer. Our experience is that most consumers have no real understanding of why they owe the amount which is claimed in the lawsuit. We believe that anyone seeking the aid of the court ought to be able to prove a case with proper evidence. In our opinion, far too frequently creditors and debt buyers lack the required evidence.

What We Do

Our firm is experienced in handling claims against debt collectors arising under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. We handle both individual claims and, when the claim seems typical of a debt collector's widespread practice, class action claims.

Through the use of local attorneys throughout the United States and because the law applies nationwide, we are able to represent consumers across the country.
